Embora a presença de árvores nas cidades seja fundamental para a qualidade de vida, como todo ser vivo, elas possuem uma durabilidade e são susceptíveis a pragas e doenças em seu ciclo de vida. Pragas como os cupins, tão comuns na metrópole paulistana, podem provocar a queda da planta por perda de sustentação.

Esse jacarandá-mimoso (Jacaranda mimosaefolia) adulto da fotografia acima, uma árvore de origem argentina de madeira mole e apreciada por cupins,   não resistiu ao ninho no seu tronco e caiu ontem na Cidade Universitária, sem qualquer vento, em cima de dois carros. Por sorte, ninguém se machucou.

Vale lembrar que além de plantar também é muito importante a inspeção da fitosanidade em árvores habitantes nas cidades, já que é um ser dinâmico e precisa ser acompanhado profissionalmente, a fim de que possa executar seus serviços ambientais urbanos e só gerar benefícios à todos.

Fall of the urban trees and the termoids in São Paulo City, Brazil.

   Although the presence of trees in the cities is fundamental to life welfare, like ever human being they have a life spam and are susceptible to plagues and sicknesses in their life cycle. Plagues such as termoids, so common in São Paulo city, can cause the fall of the plants because the lost of their sustentability.
  This adult “Jacarandá mimoso” at the photo above, a soft Argentinian wood tree and appreciated by termoids, did not hold the nest on its trunk and fell yesterday at University city, without any wind. The tree fell on the top of two cars – luckly, no one got hurt.
    It is good to remember that besides planting, it is also very important the inspection of the trees health that live in the cities, once they are dynamic beings and need to be proffessionally kept, to do their enviromental services and just offer benefits to everybody.
